The masterplan and statutory plan for Soroka University Medical Center establish a long-term framework for the hospital’s development through 2050, responding to regional population growth and evolving medical, infrastructure and security-related needs. The plan restructures the campus into clearly defined medical zones, connected by a new central medical core, with new facilities for children, women and maternity care, internal medicine, logistics and innovation. The development strategy combines the renewal and replacement of existing buildings with upgraded infrastructure and sheltered medical facilities, allowing the campus to expand in a flexible and phased way over time.

Soroka plays a vital role in the healthcare system of southern Israel, particularly during emergencies and large-scale events in periods of heightened security risk. The plan therefore places strong emphasis on resilience and emergency preparedness, including improved emergency infrastructure and offering emergency transport based on the largest medical helipad in Israel, together with a future rooftop helipad on top the emergency unit building. These measures support Soroka’s continued role as the leading medical center in southern Israel.
